Madonna will perform in the Telethon to help Haiti
Madonna will perform in the Telethon organized and produced by George Clooney to help the victims of the Haiti earthquake. It will be on Friday 22th January.
Beyonce and Madonna will join the telethon “Hope for Haiti Now”, which was held Friday for the impoverished Caribbean nation, while actor George Clooney will donate to the cause of a million dollars, organizers said Thursday.
Beyonce will be presented in London and Madonna onstage at New York on Friday afternoon in a benefit show to be broadcast in the four largest chains in the U.S., dozens of cable channels and, internationally, through sites Internet.
Clooney, star of “Up in the Air”, which organized the event, so will its official donation of one million dollars during the transmission, his spokesman said.
The actor, who will participate from Los Angeles, told “Entertainment Tonight” that has been awake for “three days to assemble everything.”
“First you have to connect to the networks, obtain telephone lines, join charities and how to send the money. It is an extensive process of making deals and trying to organize things,” he said.
Among other renowned personages who take part are considered when former U.S. President Bill Clinton, U2 lead singer Bruce Springsteen, rapper Jay-Z and actors Denzel Washington, Julia Roberts, Tom Hanks and Meryl Streep.
MTV, a chain that is responsible for co-producing the show, said that “Hope for Haiti Now: A Global Benefit for Earthquake Relief, the telethon will be most widely distributed of the story.
