Madonna perform in Rio on New Year’s Eve 2010, according to the Mayor
Madonna will give a concert in Rio de Janeiro to coincide with the celebrations of the end of 2010, confirmed today the mayor, Eduardo Paes.
The singer of “Like a Virgin” and “La Isla Bonita,” among other hits, will thus become the main attraction for the big party of Reveillon 2010 (end of year in Brazil), which gathers in the sands Copacabana beach more than two million people.
According to Paes said in his account of “Twitter”, Madonna accepted his invitation to sing in Rio during the dinner held last night at home both the Brazilian billionaire Eike Batista. “Madonna will be presented at the Copacabana Beach on New Year 2010/2011. I asked her and she agreed”.
Some local media also suggest that the Mayor extended an invitation to the artist to participate in the opening of the Olympic Games in 2016, although the possibility has not yet been confirmed by the team of singer.
Madonna arrived on Monday in Rio de Janeiro amid tight security in search of investments for some social projects that wants to accomplish, but its agenda was developed with a total secrecy by the team accompanying her.
