Madonna wants to continue acting as a good Samaritan
The ‘Queen of Pop’ Madonna should arrive in Rio de Janeiro on Monday to meet with several individuals and soliciting donations for its charitable foundation in Malawi, Brazilian media reported Friday.
The singer “comes to pass the hat among Brazilian millionaires” to raise money for her foundation Raising Malawi, with which since 2006 develops humanitarian projects for children in the African country where she adopted two boys, said the newspaper Folha de Sao Paulo.
The American music star, 51, already has scheduled a meeting with Brazil’s richest man, Eike Batista, whose wealth is estimated at 7,500 million dollars.
Madonna requested “total discretion” for the meeting, which will also be the governor of Rio de Janeiro, Sergio Cabral, and the Mayor Eduardo Paes, who will present their projects, Folha said.
The artist must also meet Monday with the NGO Afroreggae vocalist, Anderson Sa, spokesmen for the group reported to the site G1. Madonna met the group through the film “Favela Rising”, which shows the social work done with youth in the favela Vigario Geral (north).
The singer will also travel to Sao Paulo, where he will meet with first lady Marisa Leticia.
The queen of pop music has developed a particular relationship with Brazil because of its relationship with the model of 22 years, Jesus Luz.
